BIOS Paul Braunstein (Haemon) Elizabeth Brown (Nurse) Elizabeth's credits include The Stone Angel and Transit of Venus (Can. Stage), Goodnight Desdemona and Dancing at Lughnasa (Grand Theatre), Stones and Ashes (Factory Theatre), The Crucible, A Midsummer Night's Dream and La Bete (Citadel Theatre), Scary Stories (Buddies in Bad Times), Amadeus, Cosi (STC), Doc (The Globe) and four seasons at The Shaw Festival where she appeared in Counsellor-at-Law, Too True To Be Good, This Happy Breed, Widower's House and Henry IV among others. Film & TV credits include Nero Wolfe, The Heist, Santa Who, Black & Blue, Dangerous Child, Boondock Saints and North Shore Fish, and is also heard as the Voice of Mrs. Turtle in Franklin the Turtle Christine Brubaker (Antigone) Antigone is Christine's second Red Red Rose project. Three years ago she appeared as the title role in Salome in Toronto Summerworks. Recent credits: Seven Days in the Life of Simon Labrosse, Great Canadian Theatre Company; Death of the Hired Man, Blyth Festival; The Whirlpool at the Tarragon Theatre. Other favorites: The Dog and The Angel at the Caravan Farm Theatre; Featuring Loretta at Factory Theatre; The Orphan Muses with Topological (Dora Nomination). Christine is a graduate of the National Theatre School. Brett Christopher (Second Guard) Most recent role: Walter in The Rimers of Eldritch (George Brown). Other credits include A Midsummer Night's Dream (Equity Showcase); Three Birds Alighting on a Field, The Paperbag Princess (George Brown); Guys and Dolls (Grand Theatre); Pericles (Queen's University). Brett is a member of the 2001 George Brown Theatre School Graduating Class and the recipient of the John Bannerman Memorial Award. Brett will also be participating in the Soulpepper Training Company this summer. Deborah Drakeford (Ismene) Other theatre gigs that Deb is pleased to have on her resume include Doubt with Theatre Columbus, The Importance of Being Earnest, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, A Christmas Carol, Great Expectations at the Grand Theatre, as well as two seasons at the Blyth Festival and shows with Theatre New Brunswick, Theatre Aquarius, Canadian Stage, Necessary Angel and Young People's Theatre. For film and television, Deb has done several movies of the week and six seasons with Polka Dot Shorts for TVO. Ephraim Ellis (Page) Richard Greenblatt (Creon) Richard Greenblatt was born in Montreal and studied acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, England. Since his return to Canada in 1975, he has been acting, directing, writing and composing music for theatre, radio, television and film across the country and abroad. He has played leading roles In regional theatres (The Fool in King Lear, the title role in Spinoza, Alan Strang in Equus, amongst many others) and in Toronto (George in Possible Worlds, Rolly in Criminal Genius, etc.). He has appeared in feature films (Stardom, Shadow Dancing, etc.) and has played numerous roles on television. He has directed over 65 productions for the stage; the vast majority being original works (Detaining Mr. Trotsky, Pinocchio, Path With No Moccasins, etc.), and has been a co--writer on some of the most successful new plays in Canadian theatre history (2 Pianos, 4 Hands; The Theory of Relatives, i.d., and Sibs). Recently, he made his French language acting debut with La Passagere at the Toronto Centre and at the NAC in Ottawa. Upcoming, he will direct Michael Healey's Plan B at the Tarragon and play the lead in Adam Baum and the Jew Movie at Canadian Stage. He has been Resident Director at Young People's Theatre, Deputy Artistic Director at Canadian Stage and Director of The Hour Company. He has taught both acting and directing at most of the leading theatre training institutions In Canada. He has won four Dora Awards and two Chalmers Awards as well as receiving numerous other nominations. He lives in Toronto with writer/director Kate Lushington and their three children. Michael Healey (First Guard) Michael Healey graduated from the acting program at the Ryerson Theatre School in 1985. There followed a great deal of character-building unemployment, punctuated by occasional roles at the Kawartha and Gryphon summer theatres. Eventual Toronto performances include The End of Civilization and Better Living (by George Walker, produced by Factory Theatre), Kicked (by Michael Healey, produced by the Hugh Bris Co.), The Road to Hell (by Michael Healey and Kate Lynch, produced by the Tarragon Theatre), and last season's Doubt (by Michael Redhill, produced by Theatre Columbus). Derrick Chua - Producer Derrick is an entertainment lawyer in addition to producing film & theatre. His most recent theatrical ventures include Four Chambers Dance Project with dancers Daryl Tracy and Heidi Strauss, Marie-Josee Lefebvre's Au Country Road (Winner of the Audience Choice Award at the SummerWorks Theatre Festival), Ned Dickens' Icara (voted one of NOW Magazine's Top 10 Toronto productions of 2001), Eric Bogosian's SubUrbia (Poor Alex Theatre) and Adam Nashman's The Three Degrees Cabaret (multiple Dora Award nominations). Upcoming projects include Gregg Taylor's Black Jack Justice playing at the Factory Mainstage as part of the Toronto Fringe Festival, Sarah Martyn's Sparta at the SummerWorks Festival, Much Ado About Nothing at the Zuckerman Amphitheatre in Earl Bales Park this summer, and Vincent de Tourdonnet's The Barnhouse Effect, and other short musical satires. Derrick currently sits on the Boards of the Toronto Theatre Alliance, The Toronto Fringe Festival, the Dora Mavor Moore Awards, Cahoots Theatre Projects, Go7 and Bald Ego Theatre. Richard Feren - Sound Designer Camellia Koo - Set & Costume Designer Camellia is very excited to be involved with Antigone. Recent credits include costume designer for Mother Tongue (Cahoots / Factory) set & costume designer for A Midsummer Night's Dream (Equity Showcase/George Brown), set designer for Winter Fling 2000 (Buddies), set designer for St. Nicholas (Acme/Artword), apprentice designer for Platonov (Soulpepper), set designer for The Bundle (Acme/Equity Showcase), set & costume co-designer for Pericles (Ryerson), and apprentice designer in the 1999 Soulpepper Training Company. Upcoming credits include designs for a cycle of Vaclav Havel plays for this summer's Fringe Festival (The Company). She is also a freelance scenic painter for various local theatre companies. Kristin McCollum - Stage Manager Kristin most recently completed a 12-week tour of The Drawer Boy (Theatre Passe Muraille). Other stage management credits include Schoenberg's Pierrot Lunaire & Transfigured Night (Autumn Leaf Performance), The Water Crawlers (Acme Theatre), Jim and Shorty (Planet 88), Sir John, Eh (Theatre Passe Muraille / Kingston Summer Festival / Persephone Theatre), Total Body Washout (Whetstone), and The Cradle Will Rock (Equity Showcase). Kristin has been working on industrials that have taken her to San Francisco, Miami, Hawaii, Geneva and Barcelona. She has also worked on various Fringe shows and with companies such as Factory Theatre, Volcano, Canadian Stage Company, Young People's Theatre, Eclectic Theatre and the Alumnae Theatre. Upcoming projects include an industrial in London, England. Sarah Phillips - Director Sarah began Red Red Rose in 1997 and directed the company's productions of Salomé and Heart of a Dog. Last year she was Assistant Director on Soulpepper's Romeo & Juliet. Prior to that she worked for a couple of years as Assistant Director with da da kamera on the development of Monster (development to premiere ‚ Festival Antigonish to World Stage), Insomnia (Theatre Centre and FTA Montreal), Faust (Tarragon/da da kamera). Other credits include: Last Stop for Miles (National Theatre School), This is for You, Anna (University of Guelph), The Barber of Seville, A.D. (Theatre Columbus), Major Barbara, A.D.
